Nelson Hendler, MD, MS, is the author of three books about the diagnosis and management of chronic pain and over 30 chapters in various medical textbooks. He wrote over 50 articles for medical journals, and his innovative work is reported in published outcome studies.

Dr. Hendler found that 40%-67% of chronic pain patients were misdiagnosed (Psychosomatic, 1993, Psychosomatics, 1996); 71% of patients diagnosed with RSD actually have nerve entrapments (Pan Arab Journal of Neurosurgery, 2002); 88% to 92% of patients who survived severe electrical injury or lightning strike have not been properly diagnosed (Journal of Occuptional and Enviromental Medicine, 2005).
